About Bolatta Silis-Høegh Greenlandic Latvian artist born 1981 in Qaqortoq, South Greenland, with roots in Greenland. She graduated from Aarhus Academy of Fine Arts and currently resides in Copenhagen, but also works in both Greenland and Sweden. Bolatta works primarily with painting, drawing and installations, often featuring a strong personal and social expression. Her art touches on such themes as trauma, identity, vulnerability, femininity and Greenlandic culture – both in concrete visual form and through more existential reflections. Her numerous works include Lights On Lights Off, Storm and the textile-based Paarivatsigit (We are looking after you). In addition to her visual art, Bolatta Silis Høegh also writes and illustrates children’s books, especially about an imaginative girl Aima, whose stories are inspired by the artist’s own childhood in South Greenland. One of these books was nominated for the Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize. She has exhibited widely in Greenland, Denmark and internationally, and her works can be found among such collections as the Nuuk Art Museum and Greenland’s National Museum & Archive. This is her twelfth stamp for Tusass Greenland. Greenland Collector 5
